Virgin launches loyalty program

Virgin Atlantic has launched its international airline ticket frequent flyer program, Flying Club, offering instant gold membership to a limited number of Qantas and Cathay Pacific gold card holders, and double miles for some travellers flying out of Sydney.

Instant gold membership is available to the first 500 gold Qantas or Cathay Pacific cardholders to book and fly ‘upper class’ with Virgin Atlantic from Sydney to Hong Kong or London.

And double miles are available to travellers in all classes who book and depart from Sydney on Virgin Atlantic between June 1 and September 30, 2005.

Save Up to $75 in Airfare
Travellers can also earn miles with Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club partners, including Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, Malaysia Airlines, South African Airlines, Gulf Air, Hawaiian Airlines, British Midland and Continental Airlines.

The airline says other benefits of membership include the ability to use points to upgrade bookings on international flights, no point deductions for booking with a partner airline or for requesting a statement, and the ability to redeem points on Virgin Atlantic for anyone (not just nominated members).

Flying Club Silver members can also access ‘premium economy’ check in, global assistance, a 24 hour travel guide and advice bureau, and priority waitlisting.

Flying Club Gold member benefits also include upper class check-in for any Virgin Atlantic flight, access to ‘clubhouses’ globally for the member and his or her guest, a family account for up to three children, supplementary silver account for a household member and global assistance.

The Airline Ticket Flying Club program is free to join.
